PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s remarks against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is a form of “sabotage” towards the Keluarga Malaysia coalition government, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president said Muhyiddin as the National Recovery Council (NRC) chairman should know that his negative remarks can affect the government’s performance in the eyes of the world.

“How can international investors have confidence towards Malaysia as an investment destination when the NRC chairman gave a bad impression about his own government,” said Ahmad Zahid in a statement on Facebook.

On Monday (Sept 20), Muhyiddin said it was better for the prime minister to call for a general election if the country’s economy is not managed properly.

Ahmad Zahid said that the former premier should look at his “own reflection” before making such remarks, and it was troubling when government leaders are pointing fingers at one another over various issues.

This, he said, would create some delays for the country to recover from matters arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The instability will make it hard for the government to work as a team in facing current and future challenges,” he added.
